Northern Inter Counties

At its executive committee meeting on 8th May, Merseyside County AA noted that the English Schools T&F Cup Final was to be held on 1st July and the English Schools Nat’l T&F Champs a week later on 7th and 8th July.  They reluctantly decided that, for this year, they would not send a team to the Northern Inter Counties U15/U17 T&F Champs in Hull on Sunday 2nd July 2017.

Merseyside record

When it comes to athletic families, there are surely few stronger in the UK than the Kearney clan of Merseyside.
Six of the family were picked for their county team for the Inter-Counties Cross Country Championships recently and their results included: Ellen-Mary (63rd in the under-13 girls’ race), Aileen (116th in the under-20 women’s race), Ieuan (144th in the under-17 men’s race), and Arran (218th in the under-17 men’s race).
In addition, Emily Kearney was fourth in the Merseyside Championships but unable to run at Prestwold Hall as she is studying in the United States, while their mum, Sarah, was also selected to race and travelled to the event but was unable to run on the day. (© Athletics Weekly, March 2017)

Northern Athletics Survey

In early 2014, Northern Athletics (NA) faced a situation whereby financial reserves would run out within 2 to 3 years and asked athletes, coaches and volunteers to complete a survey, to establish the level of support and the key priorities for NA (from those responding to the survey) to be identified.  … More
