Track and Field
Merseyside Track & Field Secretary Mike Dooling, MBE
It is with sadness that I report that Walter “Wally” Bridson died on Saturday morning, 8th December 2018. Until ill health forced a retirement earlier this year, Wally was the long-time Secretary of Liverpool, Pembroke & Sefton H & AC, Vice President and active member of Merseyside County Athletic Association and an athletics official for his club and county serving as an Endurance official, as a Track Judge, a Timekeeper and more recently as a Starter. His considerable contribution to athletics will be greatly missed. The funeral is on Thursday 20th December at 12 noon at St Benet’s Church, Copy Lane, Netherton, L30 7PE.
A new download is now available showing the best known performances by Merseyside athletes, defined as athletes eligible to compete for Merseyside. It is included as a T&F download although it includes some road performances.
For 2017, the County awards the Blair Performance Trophy to Jonny Mellor for his 2:12:57 Berlin marathon and the Green Performance Trophy to Anyika Onuora for her 400m perfomances, inc relays, at IAAF Champs. Current and past winners.
M’side County will be holding an open evening T&F meeting at Wavertree on Wednesday 1st August for Under 11s to Under 17s. Click here for Prospectus and Entry info.
Winners of the 2018 T&F Champs awards have now been decided. See here for details. Congratulations to all. Individual awards will be passed to clubs when available.
