The Level 1 course for new T&F officials on Sunday 18th February still has some vacancies. This is the essential first step to becoming a field judge, track judge, timekeeper or starter. Interested? See details on England Athletics website and book your place.
At its executive committee meeting on 8th May, Merseyside County AA noted that the English Schools T&F Cup Final was to be held on 1st July and the English Schools Nat’l T&F Champs a week later on 7th and 8th July. They reluctantly decided that, for this year, they would not send a team to the Northern Inter Counties U15/U17 T&F Champs in Hull on Sunday 2nd July 2017.
Two courses are coming up at Wavertree shortly.
Level 1 Track & Field Official; Sunday 19th February. This is the course for new Track and Field officials, ie Field Judges, Track Judges, Timekeepers, Starter / Marksmen. Attending the course and officiating at 4 or 5 meetings is enough to get a basic Level 1 qualification. There is also a Health and Safety element, mandatory for all officials.
Level 1 Endurance Official; Saturday 4th March . This is the course for new endurance officials, ie working at Road, Cross Country and Fell Running. The course covers Risk Assessment and all the varied duties of an endurance official. Again, completing the course and working at 4 events will gain a Level 1 qualification.
Brief course details Application Form. It will be another 12 months at least before another T&F course will be available locally. For the new endurance official, this is one of only two course in the country and it could be a long time before another opportunity arises locally.
