Welcome to Merseyside County Athletic Association.

Merseyside is located in the North West of England and comprises the boroughs of Knowsley, Liverpool, St Helens, Sefton and Wirral. For sport, Halton is also treated as part of Merseyside.

The Association organises Merseyside championships in Track & Field, Cross Country, Road and Fell Running and selects teams to represent Merseyside in Inter Counties competition.

The Association holds its Annual General Meeting in April and the Executive Committee meets monthly in the Liverpool Harriers clubhouse.

County Qualification

County qualification is governed generally by UKA Rule 21 S6.

All individual competitors in county championships must have been either born in Merseyside or been resident in Merseyside for at least 9 months prior to the championships.

Participation in Merseyside team competition is usually limited to clubs affiliated to Merseyside County AA, ie clubs based in Merseyside. However, clubs affiliated to England Athletics that are based outside Merseyside can compete in team competition if the individual competing members have a Merseyside county qualification.

Athletes whose first claim club is not affiliated to Merseyside County AA may compete for any second claim club which is so affiliated.

Only those athletes who are eligible to compete as individuals in the County Championships (as specified above) are eligible to represent Merseyside County AA in Inter County competition.

Criteria used in selecting athletes to represent Merseyside.

County vests

These are available to purchase or to borrow from team managers when athletes are selected to compete for the county.

Services to Athletics award

The county will recognise long and meritorious service to athletics in Merseyside at club, county or schools level, or to mark a special achievement, with an annual award.
